This painting is inspired by the Takanya forest hike that I did a few years ago. It was just all encompassing - no trails, no buildings, just forest in every direction. I love getting lost in this kind of detail. It feels like it switches my brain into just observation mode, without thinking. And I love feeling like I am just another detail in the forest, just swimming through the infinity, reminding me that the forest and myself are made of the same thing. I am part of the forest. And the light through the trees, that glows via your eyeballs warming your face and heart and brain is one of my favourite things in the world to see and feel. I've tried to capture that feeling in this abstraction, taking inspiration from all of my images that I took on the trip - as well incorporating some of the water I collected from Authur River on my way out of the forest - and now sits in an old whisky decanter - growing it's own little ecosystem.

I only have crappy pics on here so no one can steal my images. Please come check them out in person at the Bob Brown Foundation - Art for Takayna Exhibtion, Abbotsford Convent. Nov 6 to 17, 2025
