This was my first painting on canvas. Such a big discovery for me to be able to paint on canvas and still get that dispersion of paint, that random movement and merging of colours. Watercolour is the first thing that has stuck for me. I've taken photographs for years and years, but painting this way is something that has caught my short attention span. But also I have made it stick. It has taken me a long time to appreciate the art of just persisting with something. And not seeing mistakes as a bad thing but a way to learn. I've never been one to do something over and over again, but I learnt the art of it in what I considered a really boring job, doing the same thing over and over and over again. I found the refinement of technique so interesting, the improvement of efficiency so fun, finding the best sequence of doing things, to get faster and better. And so for the last 4 years I've just been painting and painting and painting. And I finally feel like I am at the beginning of a place to start from. And just keep going and playing and learning and see what comes of it. I really love this piece. I love the colours and the light and the lines. It's delicious
