The thing I love about photography is playing with the depth of field. It's something that has taken me a long time to learn, and on each camera and each lens it is different. I used to have a giant Canon camera with a 100 mm macro lens and it took the most amazing close up shots, and you could play with the layers in the shot. But it was just too heavy. So I downsized to this little Fujifilm camera with a 60mm lens and it's not as powerful but you can still create amazing layered compositions. Like this one with the colours - a hint of green floaty seaweed, the deep spikey purple of the sea urchin with the little blue highlights of the tiny sea creatures stuck to the rocks. You can look at it as a whole composition or you can look at the details.
